Kansas State Library launches phone, text message help lines

Kansas residents wanting to know the name of their legislator or the status of a bill can now text the Statehouse for answers. 

Most calls to 1-800-432-3924 are answered within minutes. If it takes longer, librarians will return the call with the requested information. All questions and calls are confidential.

To text a question, residents may send the request to 785-256-0733.

Important Resources for Public Employees Facing Budget Shortfalls

KOSE President Lisa Ochs participated in the AFT Public Employees Budget Crisis Task Force, a meeting that was held in advance of the Economic Analysis Research Network (EARN) Conference that was held in Detroit in September.  As a result of the hard work of the Public Employees Division, two very useful resources for public employees have been compiled:  "State Revenue Options in the Current Fiscal Crisis" and "AFT Public Employees 2009 Compensation Survey".
